Our incursions are designed to align with science units, literacy units, or a multi-disciplinary integrated approach, ensuring an engaging and educational experience for students of all ages. Whether your class is exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar, focusing on life cycles or features and adaptations of insects, our interactive activities bring learning to life!

Prep/Foundation – The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Early Literacy

Storytelling and sequencing activities based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Hands-on exploration of metamorphosis and life cycles
Word games and interactive discussions to build vocabulary

Prep/Foundation to Year 6

Life Cycles & Word Activities

Discover the features and adaptations of caterpillars and butterflies
Dress-up and role-play activities to reinforce storytelling concepts
Explore habitats and food sources, connecting to nonfiction texts

Invertebrates & Text Connections

Grouping and classification of insects and invertebrates
Understanding food chains and butterfly survival

Deep dive into structural adaptations and the butterfly life cycle

Cost:

1-hour presentation 25 children

1 session – $410 +GST
2 sessions (consecutive) – $290 +GST each
3 plus sessions (consecutive)– $270 +GST each

Travel surcharge (calculated from Caulfield Junction):

If over 20kms a small travel charge will apply to cover fuel costs.

Butterfly Adventures Primary Incursion Programs are designed by qualified scientists and educators with over 20 years of experience, following the Australian/Victorian Curriculum. Our highly interactive programs begin with an engaging presentation covering life cycles, insect morphology (body parts) and butterfly adaptations.

Our experienced educators customize presentations to align with your curriculum focus, whether it’s Life Cycles, Minibeasts, Adaptations or Food Chains. Students will become butterfly experts, discovering fun facts and unforgettable experiences—plenty of photo opportunities included!

All presentations are linked to AusVELS levels (Foundation to Level 6), and upon booking, you’ll receive a PDF with pre- and post-incursion lesson plans and activities to extend learning beyond the session.
