*Dispatch Date – This is the date that we will hand your order to Australia Post.  We use Express Post which is their fastest method of delivery (Arrival date will depend on your location – Refer Aus Post website)

Important! When selecting your dispatch date – Please consider that the room the kit is in needs to be consistently above 23 degrees daily and also when releasing the butterflies the outside temperature needs to be above 20 degrees.

Releasing or keeping your butterflies.

Butterflies require 20C or higher to fly.  They will be sleepy at lower temperatures.

If the weather is not warm enough, the butterflies can be kept in your pop-up enclosure for 3-4 weeks or longer but you need to feed them every second day. Please refer to our resource page for our ‘How to feed your butterfly’ downloadable document. Additionally, it is a very good idea to mist the mesh of your enclosure with water to keep the butterflies hydrated.  (**Orchard Swallowtail butterflies must be released the following day due to their large delicate wings.)

Orchard Swallowtails (available seasonally) 

Young Orchard caterpillar is black and white. It tries to look like a bird poop!
A mature Orchard caterpillar changes its colour to green and looks alot like a green branch.
A mature Orchard caterpillar changes its colour to green and looks alot like a green branch.
An Orchard chrysalis positions itself with its head up and is attached to a branch by a tuft of silk at the bottom tip and a silken “belt” in the middle. Its colour can be green or brown depending on its surrounding and it can wiggle its abdomen to surprise predators and unsuspecting kids..
A mature Orchard swallowtail butterfly is magnificent with large wings bearing red and white markings. It glides gracefully among the trees.
